We have been working with Michele and her company for at least two years now and I am so happy we found each other. 1106 designed a book called Trench Art: An Illustrated History that won an IPPY Award. Our company sponsors these awards and I was interested to learn more about the designer.

Since we began our working relationship, 1106 Design has consistently met our required deadlines within budget. They have great capacity and can handle any amount of work you give them. Our production varies drastically (when it rains, it pours), but it’s nice to have someone that understands and is ready to work when the work comes in.

Quality control is also excellent. We never have had any problems with manuscripts coming back because changes weren’t made properly. The service they give their clients is outstanding.

It seems your service and dedication is limitless. You’re really an exception in the business! I wish I were Random House so that I could promise you dozens of lucrative jobs in the future, but I will do all I can to spread word about you. You have not only earned yourself the top of my list but the sole entry for future projects after "The Writing on the Wall" by Hannes Artens. With others I pinch pennies, but to sign the dotted line on your contract was the wisest business decision I’ve done in this whole endeavor.

The 1106 team has been superb. "Spontaneous Tourism" is CrystalOrb’s first book. We’d originally planned to go with [the printer] for everything we needed-cover, interior, indexing, etc. but encountered delays and poor communication with the PM assigned to us there, so we decided to look elsewhere once the cover was done.

Michele was one of several people I contacted, and she immediately impressed me with her attention to detail and prompt responses to questions. She loved the manuscript, but I sent a copy of the cover that we’d been provided and she gently advised me that we’d be doing ourselves a huge disservice if we used it because it screamed “self-published.” So her team drafted three new concepts and when I saw them, I decided to drop [the printer’s] cover entirely and start over with 1106 doing everything.

Throughout the whole process, Michele and her team were responsive and energetic. They met tight timelines, kept me fully informed, turned things around faster than I thought possible, and exerted gentle pressure whenever I wanted something that their experience suggested wouldn’t be to the book’s benefit. It’s a testament to their skill that Spontaneous Tourism has been picked up by both Midpoint Trade Books and Quality Books, Inc. for distribution.

In short, I can’t say enough good things about 1106 Design. We’re going to use their services for a booklet and a few other derived materials that are in the pipeline, and I’m already looking forward to coming to Michele when we put out our next book. She and her team are simply the best.
